On the evening of Saturday 16 May, the now annual ‘Not the Eurovision Song Contest Quiz’ took place. Well in some ways it took place. Of course, we could not gather in the Free Church Hall as is our custom. We could not sit around tables and enjoy a drink and eat fish and chips. And we missed that. But we did have a quiz. In fact, we easily had our biggest Quiz ever: about 200 participants in 26 teams. We could never fit that many in the Hall. People also joined from all over the world, again not usually the case with the Quiz. Through the wonders of modern technology and the possibilities of virtual gatherings, the Quiz very much took place. Teams met in ‘break-out rooms’, questions and answers were shown, videos were played and a fine time was had by all.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the event. Part of the purpose was to be a fund-raiser for the Beacon Youth Trust. We are delighted to announce that over £1000 was raised through this. This is a great effort and reflects the generosity of all those who participated. It is much appreciated. The funds will be used to support youth work in the Linton area in the future.
As for next year? Well we hope to have a Quiz. What form will it take? Now there’s a question.
